چکیده
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India, following cancer of the uterine cervix. Presently, 75,000 new cases are reported annually and account for 19-34% of all cancer cases among women nationally (ICMR 1989; Badwe et al., 1990; Murthy et al., 1990; ICMR 2001; Siddqi et al., 2001; Saxena et al., 2005). In the central region of India where this study was undertaken, 50 to 70% of breast cancer patients present in an advanced stage (ICMR 1989). Breast cancer is a biologically heterogeneous disease and patients with the same diagnostic and clinical prognostic profiles can have markedly different clinical outcomes. This difference is possibly caused by the limitation of our current taxonomy of breast cancers, which groups molecularly distinct diseases into clinical classes based mainly on morphology. A partial explanation for this disparity in behavior is found in studies using modern techniques including molecular profiling to examine the biologic underpinnings of breast cancer (Ahr et al., 2002; Huang et al., 2003). Molecular profiling has provided biological evidence for heterogeneity of breast cancer through the

Correlation Of Her-2/Neu And Tp53 Expressions With Clinicopathologic Characteristics In Infiltrative Ductal Breast Carcinomas
Objective: To review Her-2/neu and Tp53 status and their correlation with all other prognostic clinicopathologic features of infiltrative ductal breast carcinomas. Materials and Methods: This cross sectional study was performed on 139 patients with infiltrative ductal breast carcinoma who were diagnosed between May 2000 and March 2006 at the surgery and pathology departments of Alzahra Hosp...
متن کامل[Determination of infiltrative ductal breast carcinoma differentiation grade in biopsy imprints].
BACKGROUND/AIM In patients with breast carcinoma there are many risk factors for assessment of breast carcinoma maturity and prognosis. Besides histological type of differentiation, cytologic criteria for the evaluation grade of the differentiation of infiltrative ductal breast carcinomas are very important for prognosis. The aim of this study was to define cytologic criteria for grading of inf...
متن کاملInfluence of thyroid hormone receptors on breast cancer cell proliferation.
BACKGROUND The involvement of thyroid hormones in the development and differentiation of normal breast tissue has been established. However, the association between breast cancer and these hormones is controversial. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to determine the protein expression pattern of thyroid hormone receptors in different human breast pathologies and to evaluate thei...
متن کاملCorrelation of Hormone Receptor Expression with Histologic Parameters in Benign and Malignant Breast Tumors
Background and Objective: Breast cancer is the commonest cancer of Indian women. Estrogen and Progesterone expression is seen in benign breast lesions and in breast carcinoma associated with good prognostic parameters and it correlates well with response to hormone therapy. Although a lot of studies have been conducted in the past on hormone receptor expression in breast cancer and few have cor...
متن کاملA preliminary study of microsatellite instability analysis in different genotypes of p53 codon 72 in breast invasive ductal carcinomas
Abstract Background: The polymorphic variants at codon 72 of the p53 gene, encoding either proline or arginine at residue 72, produce marked change in the structure of p53. From the evidence that the DNAmismatch repair system and p53 interact to maintain genomic integrity, we hypothesized that the codon 72 variation may influence the prevalence of microsatellite instability a featur...
